The star HD 80606 (also known as Struve 1341 B) is part of a binary star system with a separation of 1200 astronomical units. It hosts an extrasolar planet on a highly elliptical orbit. Because of the high eccentricity the temperature of the planet's surface can rise from 800K to 1500K in just 6 hours.
